Set in the heart of Melbourne’s legal district at 211 Queen Street, Saxe opened its doors in October 2017. Guests can choose to dine in the intimate space downstairs, overlooking the chefs at work in the kitchen, or upstairs in the elegant dining room framed by a ‘Saxe-blue’ banquette.
Joe Grbac’s contemporary Australian cuisine reflects his passion for seasonal produce through the à la carte menu and the daily changing degustation menu. You might find dishes such as asparagus with parmesan custard and miso vinaigrette featuring in spring, or hand-picked wild mushrooms from the Macedon ranges with fermented garlic and brie de meaux come autumn. And the modern, seasonal wine list transcends the very best of local Australian wines, plus the heroes of the old world.
Saxe is open for lunch Monday to Friday, and dinner Tuesday to Saturday. The restaurant and upstairs dining room are also available for exclusive private events.
